About me Short
Frido Engaged scientific researcher, teacher, coach and consultant in the field of innovation, design & entrepreneurship at the Delft School of Industrial Design Engineering. Research quest: Building practice relevant theory that help us better understand and explain (and teach) the phenomenon of innovation and entrepreneurship. Therefore heavily engaged with companies and tech based start ups.
Winner of the highly prestigious 2015 Delft Entrepreneurial Scientist Award, issued by the board of Delft University of Technology. This award was handed over by the Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte. In January 2017 Frido was awarded an Educational Fellowship by the board of Delft University of Technology. His topic: Entrepreneurship Education.
Because of contagious teaching, he is a frequent winner of the 'Pluim' issued by his own students for being the most inspirational teacher at MSc-level.

The name of this site, 'Design Acting', refers to the socio-interactive process related to design activities: interacting with other disciplines while designing. Larry Bucciarelli 30 years ago pointed to design as a social process of negotiation among disciplines. Since then, very little research took up the challenge behind his observation to take a grounded approach to understand and explain in detail what 'negotiation among disciplines' actually means. Interacting among innovating actors, designers and the many other contributing disciplines, is what I refer to as design interacting, or short, design acting. Not just talk and communicate, but having a deliberate, intentional and well devised plan to intervene and interact with all these different disciplines. Design acting is the multidisciplinary social dimension of the object oriented innovation and entrepreneurial process.
